Our first visit with the kids to the Brookfield Zoo

This is how you trek thru the Brookfield Zoo (right outside of Chicago) in February... just kidding. The bear habitat is being moved so there was some construction that we decided to take a short cut thru.
We went for a quick visit to the Zoo last weekend since it was free! We had a really good time seeing some of the animals that didn't mind the cold or snow. It was 40 degrees outside which didn't totally numb our bones as we walked around for 2 hours.

Can you see the Dinosaur in the background... RJ was impressed!

We were trying to point out a Zebra in the picture above.

The penguin and fish exhibit was indoors.

RJ loved the tiger. The big guy was yawning in this picture.

A wolf was resting on top of the rock.

It was amazing to see the lion up close (behind really really thick glass). He was huge and really stunning.

We'll be making more trips to the zoo when the weather warms up and more animals are outside to play. We read the new bear exhibit opens in May along with the dolphin shows.

Odessey Fun World puts Chuckie Cheese to shame

Daddy and RJ took a spin on the the clown ride at Oddessey Fun World. This enormous warehouse is filled with arcades, virtual games, rides and an enormous floor to ceiling obstacle course. RJ was a fan of the clown ride for the first minute, but soon afterwards he turned white as a ghost and told his daddy that he was cold. The roller coaster adrenaline rush may have skipped a generation.

Averly had tons of fun bouncing, climbing, and making her way thru obstacle courses too!

RJ loved the ball pit... there were 2 of these on the bottom level of the obstacle course.

Can you see RJ in the ball at the very top of the course?
